How to Use RemZzzs® LinersUpdated a month ago
Using RemZzzs® liners correctly helps ensure proper comfort, seal performance, and consistent use throughout the night. Follow the steps below each night.
Step 1 — Start With Your Normal Nighttime Routine
You can wash your face or use your usual nighttime lotions and creams. One benefit of RemZzzs® liners is that they help reduce slipping and irritation that can happen when moisturized skin meets silicone.
Just give your skincare a moment to absorb before putting on your mask.
Step 2 — Align the Liner Inside Your Mask
Lay the liner on top of the silicone cushion of the mask, not directly on your face.
Line up:
- The nose bridge cutout
- The mouth opening (for full-face masks)
- The overall shape of the liner with the mask
- Any vent holes (liners should not block vents)
- Ensure the liner lays flat around:
- The nose ridge
- The cheeks
- The chin (full-face masks)
Small wrinkles are fine — large folds may cause leaks.
Step 3 — Lean Into Your Mask
Instead of lifting the mask onto your face, gently lean your face into the mask opening with the liner in place.
This helps the liner:
- Stay centered
- Mold naturally to your features
- Prevent shifting
- Keep the openings aligned with your nose and/or mouth
- Return your head to a normal upright position
Then secure your headgear.
Step 4 — Adjust Headgear Tension
The liner adds a soft buffer, so your straps may not need to be as tight as before.
Over-tightening can:
- Increase leaks
- Cause cushion-related pressure marks
- Distort the cushion shape
- Create liner wrinkles
- Decrease overall comfort
If leaks worsen when tightening, the liner may not be stretched enough, or your cushion may be worn out.
Step 5 — Stretch to Seal
This is one of the most important steps for proper fit. Gently pull edges outward so the liner extends ½ - 3/4 inch beyond the mask edge and lays smoothly against your skin
Why stretch it?
Because stretching helps the cotton:
- Relax into the shape of the mask
- Sit smoothly without bunching
- Form a consistent barrier between face and cushion
- Support seal stability
How to stretch it:
After adjusting your headgear:
- Cheeks: Gently pull outward on the protruding liner to stretch about ¾ inch (a finger-width).
- Mouth/chin area: Pull outward gently for the same amount.
- Nose bridge: Smooth the liner edge down toward the nose and away from the eyes.
Do not over-stretch — the liner should still hold its shape.
Step 6 — Check Your Seal With the Machine On
Before going to sleep:
- Turn on your CPAP
- Run your fingers around the perimeter of the mask
- Feel for escaping air
- Re-center or smooth the liner as needed
- Check that vents are clear
If leaking occurs near the eyes, try loosening the straps slightly.
Be sure to smooth the liner at the top of the nose bridge, down toward the nose and away from the eyes.
Many customers find that a slightly looser fit creates a better seal when using a liner.
Step 7 — Sleep Normally
RemZzzs® liners help stabilize the mask:
- When you roll onto your side
- When silicone would normally stick or tug
- When humidity or warm air builds up
- When facial hair interferes with sealing
The cotton helps reduce movement and friction throughout the night.
Step 8 — Replace Each Night
RemZzzs® liners are single-use.
Do not wash or reuse liners. Washing can change the shape and texture of the cotton, which may reduce comfort and affect fit.
Using a fresh liner each night provides the best experience.
